Perhaps one of the most disturbing aspects of the so-called Pro-Palestinian protests is the utter disdain for law enforcement. Obviously most of these protestors have no respect for authority. Not only are they refusing to comply with the requests of their college officials, but they disregard the lawful orders of police officers asking them not to violate property and safety laws. Many then violently resist police when they are left with no other options but to physically compel them to leave or allow anarchy. Once handcuffed, many then refuse to walk—forcing tired, stressed officers to carry them away. Among the entitled protestors, there are scenes of profanity, fits, & tantrums that would put toddlers to shame. University Florida reminded protestors, “This is not a day care—we will not treat you like children.”
As if that weren’t enough, they casually demonize all police officers. Nearly every video clip of the “protests” includes chants likening their local police (& the IDF) to the KKK! In Austin: “APD, KKK, IDF they’re all the same.” In L.A. “LAPD, KKK, IDF they’re all the same.” In New York: “NYPD, KKK, IDF they’re all the same.” And so on throughout the nation. They dehumanize all police officers and spew overt prejudice. Young punks scream “Pigs! Pigs!” in the faces of calm & collected police officers. Despite remaining incredibly restrained in their response, the police are routinely accused of gross violence by pro-Palestinian leaders, despite a notable lack of any reports of serious injuries.
These flippant accusations betray the slander and casual disregard for truth that characterizes the entire pro-Palestinian narrative. They try to deny the ancient Jewish presence in the Holy Land. They minimize the Holocaust. They deny the well-documented atrocities of Hamas. They deny the testimonies of Jewish victims of sexual violence. They seek to invent an ancient history in the land for a fictitious community linked to the modern Palestinians (even claiming that Jesus was a Palestinian hero)! They dabble in anti-Jewish blood libel, falsely accusing Israel of genocide, while their movement overtly calls for the genocide of all Jews. They lie about national origins, mislabel Jews as white colonizers, and mischaracterize Israeli self-defense as apartheid. They blame Israel for civilian deaths orchestrated by Hamas for publicity. The movement traffics in lies, misinformation. and factual omissions.
History has some chilling precedents for this type of strategy. Take the commentary of Joseph Goebbels—the master propagandist of the Nazis during WWII. Ironically, he was criticizing the Allies, not his own Nazi regime. But he aptly described the strategy of mass deceit, stating, “…when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.”
